Uganda Independence Day 2019
After World War II, native Ugandans were allowed to serve in government and by 1955 half the members of the legislative council were Ugandans.
The Uganda Constitutional Conference was held in London in September 1961 organised to pave way for Ugandan independence. At the end of the conference on October 9, Uganda officially became an independent nation from the British Colonialists. It is celebrated nationally in Uganda every year.
On the Ugandan Independence Day 2019, the Mayor of Croydon raised the Ugandan Flag at his Chambers in recognition of the Ugandan Community in Croydon.
