WELCOME TO THE HOME

OF UGANDA CROYDON CATHOLIC COMMUNITY

Our mission is to follow our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in fighting poverty and loneliness in ethnic

minority groups, promote family values, raise awareness across all age groups

and create activities for young people to avoid mischief.

Church Services

Ugandan mass is celebrated every Second Sunday of each month, 2:00pm at St Chad Catholic Church led by a Ugandan Priest. It’s normally conducted mainly in Luganda and English. This is to encourage our children to understand mass clearly and strengthen the concept of identity in our community. The mass is also streamed live online.

UCCC Monthly Cultural Social Event (Kibitu)

This is characterised by a traditional meal, music, dance and drama, poems, workshops for adults and children.

The UCCC Monthly Cultural Social Event (Kibitu) is organised and sponsored by the various sub-groups / Bubondo within UCCC every after celebration of our Luganda / English monthly Church service.

DO NOT

DIE IN SILENCE

Please Don't Die in Silence, UCCC is a Family around You

UCCC Management appeals to everyone who might be experiencing difficulties possibly as a result of the current lockdown to come out and inform your Kabondo Leaders or any member of UCCC Management so that we organise support to reach out to you.

We also appeal to anyone to reach out to any Ugandan/s who live alone via telephone and let management know if they need support.

The situation is so precarious that anything can happen through LONELINESS. Together we must win this virus with God’s favour

Stay safe

UCCC Tips To Cope With Bereavement

Grief hits us differently and can adversely affect our physical and mental health:

  • Do not suffer in silence, UCCC Family is here to help, talk to us
  • Try as much as you can to attend UCCC Duyiro activities so you can interact with people of similar backgrounds
  • Expect strong feelings to come back from time to time
  • Avoid blaming yourself for the loss but remember that it’s only the Lord who has the powers to give and take life
  • You might become irritable, don’t worry as this is part of the healing process. You might consider reciting the bible or Quran
  • Plan out your day/s in advance so you can have some structure.
  • Keep up your hobbies as much as is possible.
  • Keep busy so as not to dwell on unhappy thoughts, feelings and loneliness
  • Keep around people in your bubble, avoid spending longer periods of time alone
  • Take every opportunity to talk to others about how you’re feeling.
  • Share stories with people who also knew and cared about the deceased
  • Try to keep up with your daily routine so you don’t get overwhelmed.
  • Talk about your memories with loved ones and friends.
  • Stability helps. Avoid moving or changing jobs wherever possible.
  • Try to support others whose grieving process is longer or more difficult than yours.
  • If your symptoms aren’t getting better or you would like extra help, talk to your GP, Priest, Community Leader, therapist etc
  • Don’t judge people who are expressing their grief differently to you
  • Try to get enough sleep, eat a well-balanced diet, and exercise regularly.
  • Some times, bereavement causes family conflicts please try to avoid them and seek support from a priest, sheikh, community leaders, elders
  • Ensure that you maintain SOPs to avoid catching or spreading COVID-19

TOGETHER WE SHALL BEAT COVID
